CD REVIEW
BLUEBIRDS
SWEET JAMBOUREE
After a successful tour of Australia last year, Swedish blues band, Bluebirds have been back in the studio an have just released their third album Sweet Jambouree. This is the same line-up that is on their second album Oh Baby featuring Jim Ingvarsson-drums, Patric Carlson-vocals and guitar, Magnus Jonsson-bass, Lee Ericson-vocals and piano, plus the added bonus of a horn section gives the Bluebirds a much more fullness to their sound.

Sweet Jambouree is a rockin' set of cool rhythm and blues tunes featuring ten original songs, most of which were written Patric Carlson. The album also has a number covers including Frankie Ford's Sea Cruise, Junior Watson's Cuttin' In, and Charles Underwood's Bonie Bee plus two more.

All of these are great, but the heart and soul of this album are in the songs they have penned themselves.
A couple of my favourite ones are the title track Sweet Jambouree with it's big twangy guitar intro and Lee Ericson tearing up
the ivories, and It Ain't Worth It, a great ballad with Frida Pettersson on backing vocals and Per Johan Altin playing some cool hammond organ. Along with the covers and their original songs, the Bluebirds manage to generate a real vintage sound on this album.

These guys just keep getting better and better and If you liked Walkin' On Thrills and Oh Baby, you're going to love Sweet Jambouree.
